The Rev. Sharon Leigh Hiers is the associate rector for youth and young adults at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Atlanta, GA. An ordained transitional deacon, she will be ordained to the priesthood in September 2009. She also serves as the Episcopal chaplain to Emory University and as a spiritual advisor to young adults in the Episcopal diocese of Atlanta.
Sharon earned a bachelor of science degree in biology at Coastal Carolina University, and in 2007 she received a master of divinity degree from the school of theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN.
It was one of those days when a full-fledged miracle would have been very helpful. Not so much the water-walking kind, but one of the feeding-5000-people-with-5-loaves-of-bread sort of miracles.
In February of 2007, I traveled with a few undergraduates and the dean of students from the University of the South, in Sewanee, Tennessee to Quito, Ecuador. The primary purpose of our trip was to record the stories of the first ever gathering of leaders from around the globe making a difference in their communities and in the world.
