The Rev. Dr. Daniel Vestal is the coordinator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, headquartered in Atlanta, GA, and former pastor of churches in Atlanta, GA, and Texas.
He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Baylor University and M.Div. and Th.D. degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He pastored Meadow Lane Baptist Church in Arlington, TX, Southcliff Baptist Church in Fort Worth, First Baptist in Midland, Dunwoody Baptist in Atlanta, and Tallowood Baptist in Houston.
He is the author of Pulling Together and The Doctrine of Creation, and contributed to several other books.
He and his wife, Earlene, are the parents of three and grandparents of five.

In the mid-80s there was a British film entitled "The Mission." A key figure in the story is a man by the name of Rodrigo Mendoza, played by Robert de Niro. He is a mercenary who commits murder in a fit of rage. He is not executed but enters into a deep depression. He is commanded to perform some acts of penance, and at a turning point in the movie he comes to an emotional and spiritual break point. In a dramatic scene he releases all the anguish, pain and remorse in his heart. As he weeps in sorrow he presents what Scripture calls "a broken and contrite heart."
