The Rev. Dr. James W. "Jim" Moore is a bestselling author of over 40 books. He is an acclaimed preacher and pastor and is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church.

He served as Senior Pastor of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston from 1984 to 2006. In 2006, after 50 years of active ministry, he retired from full-time ministry in the Texas Conference of the UMC and moved to the Dallas area. He is currently serving as Minister in Residence at Highland Park United Methodist Church.

The Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful and costly tombs in the world. The colorful legends which surround the building of the Taj Mahal are all fascinating. But, there is one that haunts and disturbs.

Shah-Jahan, the powerful Mogul emperor, was in grief. His favorite wife had died. He loved her deeply and he was devastated by her loss. He decided to honor her in a signal way. He would construct an incredible temple, the likes of which the world had never seen. The temple would serve as her tomb and would be a memorial tribute to her and the dramatic symbol of his love for her.

Recently, a fascinating essay arrived at my desk. The essay had been written by a man named David Saucier, a former patient at Methodist Hospital in Houston. As a matter of fact, David Saucier was the fourth patient at Methodist Hospital to receive a heart transplant.
