He earned a B.A. from Grove City (PA) College in religion and philosophy, an M.Div. from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. from Princeton Theological Seminary.
He has served at First Presbyterian Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA since 1988. Before that he was pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, IL, and associate minister of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in East Liverpool, OH.
Rev. Zanicky also teaches part-time at Misericordia University in the Religious Studies Department. He is a board member of Osterhout Library, president of Ecumenical Enterprises, Inc. (low income housing, nursing home), vice president of the Interfaith Council of Wyoming Valley, and board member of Heritage House (senior citizen housing and nursing home).
He is married to Shawn, who is also a Presbyterian minister; they are the parents of three grown children.
Not long ago, a neighboring Orthodox synagogue was desecrated. Someone, some coward, some ignorant, some despicable individual or individuals threw feces onto the steps of our Jewish neighbor's synagogue. I spoke with the rabbi and offered my support and expressed my disgust. I have no doubt that this was an anti-Semitic expression--to be condemned by Christians everywhere.
Read full transcript...Shortly after our arrival in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, my family and I were in an automobile accident. Thankfully, none of us were critically injured. We did have some cuts and bruises and a few cracked ribs.
Advent was just around the corner, and among the many other activities that had to take place was the erecting and decorating of the Zanicky Christmas tree. We are fortunate to live in a large beautiful manse. This affords us the opportunity to have 10-foot Christmas trees...and we love every foot!
