A well-known composer and musician, the late Rev. Dr. Isaiah Jones is the author of the WJK songbook God Has Smiled on Me, the title hymn of which was featured in the Whoopi Goldberg film "Clara's Heart" and nominated for a Grammy Award.

He had served as pastor of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Palo Alto, California. He led worship and performed on the Billy Graham Crusade and Robert Schuller's "Hour of Power." He served as adjunct faculty at UCLA, San Francisco Theological Seminary, Fuller Theological Seminary, and Oregon State University.

Let us pray. Gracious, living God, you are our God and we love you. You are the God of the universe. O God, we thank you for those who came before us, who in their relationship with you wrote their experience down and now it is Scripture for us. And so we ask today that you would speak to every listening heart today. Speak to me, your son; help me to be open to be your channel. May we walk in obedience to your Word to us this day. In the name of Christ, Amen.
