Squishy Scriptures

We all need a wee boost every once in a while.  Sadly the squishy stuffed rabbit I used to carry around when I was six didn't seem to fit into the business world (and it looked odd in a brief case).  I needed an alternative.

Over the years, the one place I found myself turning again and again for comfort was scripture.  Didn't matter what it was; from a bad day to the loss of a loved one, they were consistently the words that healed.

To compensate for the loss of the rabbit, I have created what I call my "squishy" scripture list; those scriptures that are squishy and warm and comforting like my furry childhood friend.

In case you need your own wee boost today, I listed a few below.  Print 'em out, slip them in your wallet or purse and treat yourself to a squishy scripture or two.  Be good to yourself today!

"Your enemies will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven." Deuteronomy 28:7

"Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved."  Psalm 55:22

"I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears, surely I will heal you." 2 Kings 20:5

"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name and you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flames shall not consume you."  Isaiah 43:1-2

"Have mercy on me oh God, have mercy.  For in you my soul takes refuge.  In the shadow of your wings I take refuge, until the destroying storms pass by." Psalm 57:1

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

"For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline." 2 Timothy 1:7

"I am going to send an angel in front of you, to guard you on the way and bring you to the place I have prepared." Exodus 23:20

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone." Psalm 91:11-12

"Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard."  Isaiah 58:8

"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground ... Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace." Ephesians 6:10-17

"I lift up mine eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help.  My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth.  He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not sleep."  Psalm 121: 1-3
