He obtained his A.B. from Harvard in 1964 and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1967. He formerly served as Staff Director of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
Among other roles, he serves on the Board of Directors, Episcopal Relief and Development, and Board of Visitors, Kanuga Conferences, and is involved in the Washington Institute of Foreign Affairs.
