The Rev. Canon Brian Lee Cole became Rector of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lexington, KY, in early 2012.

Since 2005 Brian served as Sub-Dean of The Cathedral of All Souls, Asheville, North Carolina. He previously was Vicar at Church of the Advocate, which serves the homeless in downtown Asheville. Brian has been a member of the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church since 2009 and also sits on the Council's Executive Committee.

A native of Missouri, Brian graduated from Murray State University in 1989. He then received a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville in 1992. Brian completed additional course work at The Sewanee School of Theology in 2002 and was ordained an Episcopal priest that same year in the Diocese of Western North Carolina.

Brian is married to Susan Weatherford.  Susan grew up on the campus of Berea College, where her father, Dr. Willis D. Weatherford, Jr, served as the sixth president from 1967 to 1984.  Brian has one son, Jess, who is 16 years old and lives in Auburn, Alabama.  Jess is an active member at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn.

For as long as people have followed the way of Jesus, there has been foolishness.

A preacher I heard in college once tried to tell us that.  He was a British Methodist and he preached for fifty-five minutes.  But I hung on every word.  The accent helped but it was more than that.  He spoke about the eccentrics he knew in his life and the foolishness of the cross.

Glory.  I am supposed to tell you about the Glory of the Lord.  In the lesson from St. Mark's Gospel, Jesus' face changed while praying on the mountain and his clothes became dazzling white and I am supposed to tell you about the Glory of the Lord that Peter and John and James were witness to on that day.
