God Knows Us

Then the Lord said, "I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. Indeed, I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them from the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey..."
-Exodus 3:7-8

Overwhelmed by God's holiness, Moses hears comforting truths that must have reverberated in the core of his soul:

"I have observed the misery of my people." God sees us. God watches us as a loving mother watches playful children, struggling to walk, working hard to learn how to live, making mistakes, falling down, running around in fear, taking small steps of growth.

"I have heard their cry." God hears us. God hears our wails of grief, our cries for help, our shouts of victory. God hears our prayers in good times and bad.

"I know their sufferings." God knows us. Inside and out. We can rest in the knowledge that God hasn't forgotten us, left us out in the cold, turned away from us. That is not God's nature.

God sees, hears, and knows us. God is always present with us. Live in that light today.
