What's Up with the Day1 Website?

Happy new year! I hope your new year starts off well, and that it will hold great hope and purpose for you. In 2018 Day1 will be launching several new resources for you and your church, so please keep watching this website!

We are so grateful to you and all the users of the Day1.org website. I hear from many of you at various events like the Festival of Homiletics or Academy of Preachers, or by email or phone call or in person, about how much you appreciate the resources we provide on our website--not only the lectionary based sermon transcripts and audio podcasts, but videos and blog posts by a diverse array of church leaders.

You may have noticed recently that some things on the site are a little wonky. We also are not updating the Key Voice blog or the Day1 blog as frequently as previously.

Also, our search box has not worked for some time--and our apologies for that. To search for content on the site, do this: Go to Google.com and in the search window type site:day1.org and then your search terms. This will yield the same results you would get through our site search.

So what's up?

As you may know, we have been working for some time on building a whole new Day1 online experience. The new site will include ALL the resources you find here now, but in a much more accessible way. The site will be easily accessed not only on your desktop computer or laptop, but also on tablets and smartphones.

In addition--and we're very excited about this--we will be adding various historic sermon archives, including the Protestant Hour programs from 1946 on featuring some of the mightiest and most influential preachers of the 20th Century.

And we're honored to become the home of the William L. Self Sermon Archives, which are currently being digitized. As you know, Bill was a leader in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship as well as with our organization, and he was one of the most popular Day1 preachers for a dozen years before his passing in January 2016. We are thrilled to work with Bill's family and friends to make these wonderful sermons available by audio and text for years to come.

Because of the mammoth amount of content that must be migrated to the new site, it's been taking us longer than we hoped to launch. But we do hope to launch soon, so watch this space.

Another project we're working on is a Sunday school formation resource for adults and youth drawing from our recent Day1 Faith & Science series. We're working on a leader's guide and downloadable audio/video that youth and adult formation classes and other groups can use to learn more about this important and fascinating subject.

On a personal level, I'm pleased to announce that I have a new book coming out from Church Publishing: Getting to Know Jesus (Again): Meditations for Lent. It's ideal not only for personal reflection, but for group interaction.

Thank you again for your interest in the Day1 ministry. Feel free to contact us with any questions, comments, or encouragement at info@day1.org.
