In 1952, British Scripture scholar and translator J.B. Phillips wrote a book with the provocative title Your God is Too Small. He said: "The trouble with many people today is that they have not found a God big enough for modern needs." (NY: Macmillan Company, 1960, p. v) He was right.

I do know a fishing story is supposed to be flattering to the fisherman. Fishermen are supposed to talk about the monster fish they hooked but that got away, or they're supposed to talk about the bait they use to make the fish just jump on your hook.
