Haiti: Month 1

Day 1  (1/12/10):   A Prayer for Haiti

Earth-broken.

Buildings-broken.

Bodies-broken.

Sobs-breaking, keening, shattering a world

          already broken to bits.               

My body, broken for you.

Faces-bloody.

Clothes-bloody.

Streets-bloody.

Ragdoll dyed with her owner's red....

My blood shed for you.

Jesus!  Oh, Jesus!

Where are you now?

Where is the life in this death, Jesus?

How will resurrection happen this time?

Month 1 (2/12/10):  An Answer

It didn't happen in three days-

May not happen completely forever-

But the resurrection has begun-

            In prayers sent up

            In supplies sent in

            In money sent out

In every person who remembers

And acts toward the well-being

Of that devastated people.

Resurrection will happen

As long as we keep remembering

And acting.
