Dr. Jamie Jenkins: Love Is the Theme for Today
Today is Valentine's Day. Love is the theme of the day whether it is expressed with chocolates, flowers, or mushy lines in a greeting card.
Someone has said that love is just love, it can never be explained. Nor can it be defined. Nevertheless, I hope you find the following "love quotes" to be interesting.
--Love is everything it is cracked up to be. It is really worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. (Ella Wheeler Wilcox)
--Love is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. (H. L. Mencken)
--In true love the smallest distance is too great, and the greatest distance can be bridged. (Hans Nouwens)
--Love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. (I Peter 4:8)
--There is no remedy for love but to love more. (Henry David Thoreau)
--Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love. (Charles Schultz/Charlie Brown)
--Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning. (Author Unknown)
--Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. (I John 4:20)
--The most important thing in life is to learn to give out love, and to let it come in. (Morrie Schwartz)
--I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love. (Mother Teresa)
--We love because God first loved us. (I John 4:19)
--I would rather have eyes that cannot see; ears that cannot hear; lips that cannot speak, than have a heart that cannot love. (Robert Tizon)
--Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (I John 4:8)
--Love unlocks doors and opens windows that weren't even there before. (Mignon McLaughlin)
--Loving is never a waste of time. (Astrid Alauda)
--You really shouldn't say "I love you" unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget. (Author unknown, attributed to an 8-year-old named Jessica)
--Love is the master key that opens the gates of happiness. (Oliver Wendell Holmes)
--If I talk a lot about God and the Bible and the Church, but I fail to ask about your needs and then help you, I'm simply making a lot of empty religious noise. (David Sanford)
--You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving. (Author Unknown)
--God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
I trust that the love of Christ will be seen in our actions, heard in our words, and reflected in our attitudes. Happy Valentine's Day!
