Dr. Scott Black Johnston: Praying for Japan

I know that your hearts go to the people of Japan and those countries and islands affected by the earthquake and tsunami in the Pacific. This morning I have been using the following prayer (adapted from a prayer by St. Augustine):

O loving God, to stand before you is to abide forever.

Grant us, dear God, in all our duties, your help;

in all our uncertainties, your guidance;

in all our dangers, your protection;

and in all our sorrows, your peace.

This day we lift up to you the people of Japan.

Give them courage in this time of tumult,

give them comfort where they are broken and grieving,

surround them with your love and grace,

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I invite you to post your prayers for Japan here.
