Roy Lloyd: God Loves Impartially
As we look at the new spring fashions, gay has become the new "black," but the competing patterns are completely at odds.
A high standard of positive style was set by President Obama who voiced his approval of same- sex marriage. A low mark was an inferior design displayed in North Carolina where gay marriage or civil unions were banned. And Missouri teens are being offered a model called the "Don't Say Gay" law that forbids even talking about homosexuality in the public schools.
The Bible says all of us are created in the image and likeness of God who does not show partiality or favoritism. All forms of discrimination are affronts to sincere religious faith. Since God loves us with impartiality, we need to love others with the same high standard.
Christians who are bigoted toward those who are gay have forgotten Jesus' command to love one another as he loves us. Therefore, treating others with contempt means mistreating people loved by God.
This is Roy Lloyd.
