Bishop Rob Wright: Not in the Whirlwind!

It's been a whirlwind this week for our country with the Supreme Court decisions on voting rights and the right to marry. My phone exploded with calls, e-mails, Facebook and Twitter posts. Each wanted to know where I am on the issues. Where I am is widely known. But scripture came to me then: "God's not in the whirlwind. God's in the still small voice." 1 Kings 19:11-13

What's the still small voice telling you this week? In my quiet, I hear my baptismal promises: "Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving neighbor as yourself? Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?" BCP 305.

As a church we are not of one mind on these rulings, but maybe this week we might step out of the whirlwind and consult the One who is love and life.
