Bishop Rob Wright: Foolishness
What we call power some call foolishness. Jesus' cross points back to the particular crucifixion of a particular man, and simultaneously points us forward through our pain, doubt and death into life. It's a paradox. An intense movie with a twist ending. None fully comprehend it, but it's true.
Putting ourselves at God's disposal for God's preferred future gives life to us and the world. That's why we're still talking about Jesus. God brings life out of death.
Just think about how frustrated death must be. Jesus' cross is God's flashing neon advertisement for power to reconcile, heal, restore, endure, forgive, release and transform.
God chooses the foolish things, the despised things, the weak things, the low things to confound the wise. Why? So any boasting we might do could exclusively be about God. So we would be protected from pride and arrogance and certain of the source of life. (1 Corinthians 1:18-31)
Necedad
Lo que llamamos poder algunos lo llaman necedad. La crucifixión de Jesús hace referencia a la crucifixión de un hombre en particular, y al mismo tiempo nos orienta hacia adelante, a la vida, mediante nuestro dolor, duda y muerte. Es una paradoja. Una película intensa con un final inesperado. Nadie lo entiende totalmente, pero es la verdad.
El colocarnos a la disposición de Dios para su futuro preferido, nos da vida a nosotros y al mundo. Por eso todavía estamos hablando de Jesús. Dios origina vida de la muerte.
Baste pensar en lo frustrada que debe estar la muerte. La cruz de Jesús es un anuncio de neón parpadeante de Dios del poder de reconciliar, sanar, restaurar, soportar, perdonar, liberar y transformar.
Dios escoge lo necio, lo menospreciado, lo débil, las cosas bajas para confundir a los sabios. ¿Por qué? Para que cualquier jactancia que pudiéramos tener sea exclusivamente de Dios. Para que seamos protegidos del orgullo y la arrogancia y seguros de la fuente de la vida (1 Corintios 1:18-31).
