"Of all the dark passions that smite the human soul, hate is the darkest." - this from columnist John R. Gunn. He continues, "Nothing will so darken ones soul and so blind his eyes as the dark passion of hate. The man who hates another hurts himself more than the one he hates. For hate poisons the brain and renders one incapable of clear thinking. Hate embitters the soul and robs Man of all those finer and nobler sentiments that make life worth living. Hate is like a cancer. It will eat your heart out. To harbor hatred and animosity in the soul makes one irritable and gloomy, restless, apprehensive."
Any physician will tell you of the effects hate has upon the body and its functions. Hate will make you nervous. It will upset the digestive functions and destroy your appetite. It will effect the actions of the lungs, the kidneys, the liver, even the heart. If persisted in, it will make you prematurely old and will put you in a premature grave.
Hate can lead to acts of violence, even to murder. Whosoever hateth his brother, is a murderer, says the apostle John. The act of murder is an act of hate and he who hates his brother has the seed of murder already in his heart.
Apart from all these considerations, life is too short to spare an hour of it for indulgence in this evil passion. Hate hippocrisy, hate oppression, hate injustice, hate wickedness in all of its forms, but hate no man.
Any way you look at it, to indulge in hate of another is stupid folly.
