Korean Presbyterian Church Abroad - KPCA
The Korean Presbyterian Church Abroad (KPCA), originally founded as the Korean Presbyterian Church in America in 1976, began with a handful of churches in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. As the denomination expanded beyond the United States to countries like Canada, Central and South America, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and Europe, it adopted its current name in 2009 to reflect its global presence.
KPCA adheres to Reformed theology, embracing the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Apostles' Creed. The denomination emphasizes the importance of both Korean and English languages in its congregations, catering to diverse generations of Korean diaspora.
In 2010, recognizing the growing need for English-language ministry, KPCA established an English-speaking presbytery to better serve second-generation members and others more comfortable with English.
KPCA maintains close relationships with other Presbyterian bodies, including the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Presbyterian Church of Korea (TongHap), fostering mutual support and cooperation in various ministries.
