Sharing Faith - Since 1945!
Celebrating 80 Years of Day1: A Legacy of Faith, A Future of Possibility
In 1945, a bold vision took to the airwaves. What began as The Protestant Hour—a simple yet profound effort to share the hope of the Gospel—has flourished into Day1, a ministry that has touched lives across generations, geographies, and denominations.
Now, as we celebrate 80 years of ministry, we stand at the crossroads of history and innovation. With deep gratitude for the past and unwavering faith in the future, we are building something new:
A Brand-New Day1 Website, Launching This Year!
Thanks to our exciting partnership with Emory University’s Pitts Theology Library, we are creating a state-of-the-art digital home for Day1. This new website will connect audiences worldwide with thousands of archived sermons, fresh weekly content, and expanded multimedia resources—ensuring our message of hope reaches more people than ever before.
This milestone is more than just an update—it’s a bold step into the future of Christian media.
A Legacy That Endures
For eight decades, Day1 has been a place where the finest voices in preaching have shared wisdom, comfort, and inspiration. We have carried the good news of Jesus Christ across radio waves, into homes, through car speakers, and now, into digital spaces where faith meets the modern world.
Many of our listeners, like Marci Buchanan, have cherished Day1 since childhood:
"I remember sitting on the floor, my grandmother turning up the dial of a big wooden radio, and listening together to The Protestant Hour. Eighty years later, I can still hear that voice in my mind. But what amazes me most is that it’s still here—still sharing God’s love, still bringing people together, now in ways we never could have imagined."
This legacy matters, not because of the years we have counted, but because of the lives we have reached.
Looking to the Future
As we celebrate, we’re not just reflecting—we’re building. Our commitment to bringing thoughtful, engaging, and accessible Christian content to a new generation has never been stronger.
Here’s what’s ahead:
- A Special 80th Anniversary Broadcast in Lent – featuring The Rev. Dr. Thomas G. Long, one of the most beloved preachers of our time.
- A New Digital Experience – our new website (launching soon!) will make it easier than ever to access sermons, archives, and faith resources.
- Expanding Our Reach – Day1 is now available on BlueSky and SoundCloud, and we’re continuing to bring fresh voices and perspectives to listeners worldwide.
- Preserving Our Heritage – Our 4,000+ sermon archive is being fully digitized, ensuring that the wisdom of past preachers will inspire generations to come.
Rev. Dr. Katie Givens Kime, Executive Director of Day1, shares her vision for the next chapter:
"Day1 has always been about more than just a broadcast—it’s about connection. For 80 years, we’ve been a place where faith and the human experience meet, where preachers and listeners share a sacred space. As we step into this new era, we remain dedicated to making space for voices that speak to the world’s deepest needs. The next 80 years start today."
