Our Mission

Today in America, the widespread perception of Christianity -- one centered in nationalism, materialism and intolerance -- bears little resemblance to the life and teachings of Jesus, particularly as they concern justice, compassion, and peacemaking. To counter that, The Beatitudes Society develops and sustains a national network of emerging Christian leaders who:

* Advocate for justice, compassion and peace

* Reclaim a Christianity that welcomes all people, especially those at the margins

* Articulate a Christianity that dares to speak and act for our fragile planet and our most vulnerable citizens.

Our Method

The Beatitudes Society provides leadership development resources through key program areas:

* School chapters create communities of students and faculty who gather for support, action, reflection, prayer and learning.

* Summer Fellowships offer seminary and divinity school students internships at key national social change organizations.

* Prophetic Preachers Workshops provide emerging leaders with a unique interactive process to develop their skills as articulate advocates for social change.

* Professional Network provides lasting support through online resources and local and national social networking.

We support each other as we study, teach and practice the teachings of Jesus, captured in the Beatitudes and developed in the Sermon on the Mount.
