New City Church
New City Church, located in South Minneapolis, was founded by Rev. Tyler Sit in 2015 as a United Methodist congregation. The church is dedicated to centering marginalized voices, particularly those of queer people of color, and actively works to address racial, economic, and environmental justice. With a deep commitment to inclusivity, New City fosters a community where all are welcome to grow spiritually and work toward justice.
In 2022, New City expanded its ministry by launching a second campus, Northeast United Methodist Church. The church’s work in grassroots community building and social justice has garnered attention from major media outlets such as The New York Times, Minnesota Public Radio, and The Atlantic. At New City Church, faith is not just a belief but a practice of collective care and transformation.
