The Rev. Linda Hollies

The late Rev. Linda Hollies was a United Methodist minister serving in Michigan, and the author of several books. She died in 2007.
She was a prolific author, motivational speaker and champion of issues around social justice for women. She had been pastor of several churches in Michigan, including Calvary United Methodist Church in Jackson, MI, where she was serving at the time of her death. She was also minister of missions for the West Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church.
It wasn't until she turned 40 that Hollies entered Garrett-Evangelical Seminary in Evanston, Ill. She earned a master of divinity degree there, and a Ph.D. in ministry from United Theology Seminary. Before that, she had a varied career, from school teaching to working in management for General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. in Illinois.
She wrote 29 books, many designed to be inspirational to women, including Jesus and Those Bodacious Women: Life Lessons from One Sister to Another (Pilgrim Press). She was the co-editor of Waiting to Go: Advent through Pentecost and Going to Wait: Between Pentecost and Advent, and editor of Trumpet in Zion: Black Church Worship Resources (Abingdon).
