The Reverend Ernest Andrew Brooks III assumed office as President and CEO of the Academy of Preachers, Inc. on July 1, 2017.
An ordained Baptist minister, Ernest previously served as Senior Pastor of the Mount Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Williamston, North Carolina and Assistant Dean of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. At Morehouse, Ernest led programs focused on ethical leadership, interfaith engagement, intercultural education, spiritual development and vocational discernment. A seasoned nonprofit executive, Ernest served as interim Chief Operating Officer of MovementForward, Inc., an organization committed to incubating civil and human rights initiatives that are technologically innovative, radically diverse and solutions-focused. Ernest also served as Special Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta, GA. As a management consultant, Ernest has led client engagements in the areas of mission and vision development, program design and launch, strategic planning, organizational governance and change management.
Ernest currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Interfaith Community Initiatives and the Southern Initiative of the Algebra Project.
Ernest earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in religion from Morehouse College, a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from Duke University Divinity School, and a Master of Arts (MA) with a concentration in religion, ethics and culture from the University of Chicago Divinity School. Additionally, Ernest earned a graduate certificate in higher education administration from The Graham School of Professional Studies at University of Chicago and completed advanced graduate studies in nonprofit and philanthropic management at Duke University's Terry Sanford School of Public Policy.
Ernest lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife Keneta, an academic administrator at Georgia State University.
