The Rev. Dr. Rory Naeve

Rory Naeve joined First Baptist as Senior Pastor in July 2016. Before coming to Oak Ridge, Rory served as the Senior Pastor of FBC Claxton, Georgia. Most of Rory’s ministry experience has been with teens in youth ministry. There was a period of adjustment since most of the senior members don’t approve of dodgeball to open Bible study. Otherwise, most people, young or old, need the same things from their minister: someone to take the time to know them, to care for them, and to call their attention to where God is working in their lives.
Rory is the husband of Gigi. They met one another in seminary at the McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University, where Rory recently received a Doctor of Ministry degree. Together, they have two daughters who keep them plenty busy. In the free time that Rory has, he enjoys movies, novels, cooking, and a little archery to make Gigi nervous.

The good news is that Jesus doesn’t expect us to have blind luck on our side. Jesus doesn’t want us to have a flask of oil, or 5 bobby pins, or an ironing board, and a pack of gum. We’re not called to be prepared. We’re called to be awake. There will be situations and people that we will never be able to predict or to prepare for. But as long as we are awake to the world around us, God can do something wonderful through us.
