David LaMotte

David LaMotte is an award-winning musician, peace activist, speaker, and author based in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Over the past 30 years, he has performed over 3,500 concerts across the U.S. and internationally, releasing 13 albums featuring his thoughtful and inspiring original music.

Beyond music, David is a passionate advocate for justice and peace. In 2004, he co-founded PEG Partners, a nonprofit organization that promotes education, mentoring, and artistic expression in Guatemala. He also serves as a consultant on Peace and Justice for the North Carolina Council of Churches and as Clerk of the American Friends Service Committee Nobel Peace Prize Nominating Task Group.

As a speaker, David has delivered compelling messages at conferences, universities, and churches worldwide. His TEDx talk, “Why Heroes Don’t Change the World,” was selected as a TED Editor’s Pick, offering a unique perspective on collective action and social change.

David’s academic achievements include a Rotary World Peace Fellowship that allowed him to study International Relations, Peace, and Conflict Resolution at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. He is also a published author of several books, including You Are Changing the World Whether You Like It or Not, which invites readers to embrace their power to effect change.

In addition to his solo career, David is a member of Abraham Jam, an interfaith musical trio fostering unity among diverse communities. His profound work in music and activism has earned him accolades such as being named a "Madison World Changer" by James Madison University.
