Rev. Leon Stevenson is a dedicated pastor, church planter, and educator who currently serves at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also the lead pastor of Mack Avenue Community Church, a vibrant, multiethnic congregation he co-founded in 2007 on the east side of Detroit.

Born and raised in East Cleveland, Rev. Stevenson’s journey to ministry began in college, when he encountered Christ in a transformative way through a campus ministry and local church. After earning a B.A. in Communications from Wright State University, he pursued graduate studies at Ohio State University, where he received master’s degrees in Higher Education and Student Affairs and in Human Resources.

Feeling a strong call to ministry, Rev. Stevenson went on to complete his Master of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, where his wife Rebecca also earned a Master of Arts in Religion. Together, they serve their local community with a shared commitment to discipleship, teaching, and outreach.

Rev. Stevenson’s leadership at Mack Avenue Community Church includes not only pastoral care but also community development initiatives. Under his guidance, the church established a nonprofit that offers after-school programs, housing support, and small business partnerships in Detroit’s 48214 zip code.

Known for his thoughtful preaching and compassionate leadership, Rev. Stevenson often speaks on topics like prayer, sanctification, forgiveness, and Christian community. His ministry bridges diverse communities and backgrounds, with a congregation that reflects the rich racial and socioeconomic diversity of Detroit.
