Jesus’s entrance into Jerusalem was met with crowds shouting Hosanna, says Lutheran preacher Edmund Steimle in his Palm Sunday sermon. No story ever built up to a greater anticlimax. People thought he was coming to rule. He knew that he was riding on to die. It is the same today. We want to win over Communist Russia, racial tensions, atomic power rather than have to pay the price of love and suffering. War is never the answer. The answer always comes down to the individual. When Jesus was asked how to be saved he told the story of the Good Samaritan. His answer to our dilemma is always the cross.
