The Very Rev. Dr. Samuel T. Lloyd III is the ninth dean of the Washington National Cathedral. He was installed April 23, 2005.
Previously he was rector of Trinity Church, one of the largest churches in Boston, Massachusetts.
Lloyd holds a doctorate in English literature from the University of Virginia and a divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he is a regent of University of the South and is on the Board of Ministry at Harvard University. He has been published in several Anglican publications.
