The Very Rev. Dr. Ian Markham is the dean and president of Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA.

Dr. Markham assumed his duties at VTS in August 2007. An ordained Episcopal priest, he was previously the dean and professor of theology and ethics at Hartford Seminary in Hartford, CT, and before that he was foundation dean and professor of theology and public life at Liverpool Hope University in Liverpool, England.

The author of numerous books and publications, he holds a Ph.D. in Christian Ethics from the University of Exeter, a master's in philosophy and ethics from the University of Cambridge, and a bachelor of divinity in theology from the University of London.

Founded in 1823, Virginia Theological Seminary is the largest of 11 Episcopal seminaries in the United States.
