The Rev. Patti Davis is a deacon in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia. She is the co-recipient of the 2006 John Hines Preaching Award from Virginia Seminary.
The Rev. Patti Davis is a deacon in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia and co-recipient of the 2006 John Hines Preaching Award from Virginia Seminary. She is serving as interim parish deacon at Galilee Church (Episcopal) in Virginia Beach, VA.
Patti is a native of Savannah, Georgia, married to Rod, a retired Naval aviator, and they have two grown daughters. She graduated from Roanoke College with a degree in Psychology and has completed Kerygma, EFM, The Virginia Institute for Spiritual Direction, and the North Carolina Deacon Formation Program.
She was ordained deacon at Old Donation Church in 1999 and became Archdeacon by the bishop's appointment in March, 2002. Patti's diaconal ministry has also been as Chaplain at beacon Shores Healthcare in Virginia Beach. She has previously served at St. Paul's Church and Church of the Advent, both in Norfolk.
She is a published poet and co-author, with The Rev. John Capellaro, of Searching the Heart of God: Deacon and Priest in Conversation. In 2006 she received the John Hines Preaching Award from Virginia Theological Seminary.

More...Thursday afternoon in a nursing home is pretty much like any other afternoon, unless you happened to be there last Thursday. About 1:30, residents began gathering for the afternoon activity. Advertised as "Drumming with Connie," it seemed something different and maybe interesting, and so about 30 residents straggled in. They sat as they almost always do, in a large circle; but, as usual, few people spoke to each other. Mostly they just sit and wait in silence, another diversion promised to help pass the time before dinner. They know their neighbors, know them all too well maybe, and there are no surprises there. It's just another Thursday.
