Yael Splansky is the Senior Rabbi of Holy Blossom Temple, Toronto’s first synagogue, founded in 1856 and today’s largest Reform synagogue in Canada. She joined the congregation upon her ordination from Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in 1998, became its thirteenth Senior Rabbi in 2014, and in celebration of a quarter century of leadership now proudly holds the Baskin Garson Senior Rabbinic Chair.
Rabbi Splansky currently serves as President of the Reform Rabbis of Canada and Past President of the Toronto Board of Rabbis. She is a Rabbinic Fellow of the Shalom Hartman Institute and advisor to its North American seminary. She is a member of the London Initiative and has been designated to represent ARZA Canada at the upcoming World Zionist Congress in Jerusalem.
Rabbi Splansky was the editor of a prayerbook, entitled Siddur Pirchei Kodesh and in 2020 was recognized by Canadian Parliament with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award for her commitment to refugee relief, support and advocacy for the unhoused, and building bridges among faith communities.
She has the unique privilege of being a fourth-generation Reform Rabbi. Together with her husband, Prof. Adam Sol, she raises three mensches.
