The Rev. Dr. Michael W. DeLashmutt
The Rev. Dr. Michael W. DeLashmutt is Dean of the Chapel and Associate Professor of Theology at The General Theological Seminary in New York City. An Episcopal priest and theological educator, his work explores the intersection of doctrine, spiritual formation, and emerging technologies — particularly artificial intelligence and its implications for the life of the Church.
He serves as Chief Formation Officer of Co-Creators, a nonprofit initiative examining the relationship between technology, creativity, and Christian community. Michael is the author of A Lived Theology of Everyday Life and writes regularly on faith and public life for Religion News Service. He also publishes reflections on theology, culture, and technology through his Substack, Making Theology.
Alongside his academic and ecclesial work, he is co-founder of Potter & The Priest Studio, a creative ministry exploring the spiritual significance of craft, making, and hospitality.
He is an inaugural Barbara Wheeler Fellow at Auburn Theological Seminary and speaks widely on theology, AI, and the future of Christian formation.
